Professional Images (Dress Code)

All Future Professionals must commit to and follow the Professional Images (Dress Code) Guidelines during their enrollment in the school. These guidelines were established to assist in creating a safe, focused, and enjoyable learning experience. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a coaching under the Future Professional Advisory Policy and may result in termination without prior warning.

Professional Image (Dress Code)

Effective July 20, 2026: Future Professionals will be issued, (2) two pairs of black scrubs. Currently enrolled Future Professionals will receive (1) one pair of scrubs during transition. The scrubs are required to be worn during enrollment at Paul Mitchell The School Michigan. All Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance:

  1. Black Scrubs must be clean, without tears, holes, etc.
  2. Paul Mitchell T-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, zip ups are acceptable.
  3. Shoes should be professional, practical and comfortable. All shoes must be closed toe and closed heel. Colored shoes are allowed.
  4. Hair should be styled prior to arriving at the school.
  5. Any cosmetics should be applied prior to arriving at the school.
  6. Long sleeve shirts may be worn under the scrubs. Must be solid black, white or grey. The shirts should not have any political message and or branding, profanity, and/or other industry logos that are visible.
  7. Name Tag - as provided by the school. All Future Professionals are required to wear a name tag while in attendance.
  8. If Future Professional's scrubs are lost or need replacing, it will be the Future Professionals responsibility to purchase replacement scrubs. Future Professionals may purchase sold black scrub pant legs in jogger style, straight leg or flared style. Future Professionals who fail to comply with the Future Professional dress code will be coached and may receive an advisory. If Future Professionals name tag is lost or needing replacement the Future Professional is responsible to purchase a new name tag through the school.

The following is a list of unacceptable dress for all Future Professionals in attendance:

  1. Long-sleeve shirts with political messages, branding, profanity, and and/or other industry logos that are visible. As well as any long sleeve shirts not in the solid color of black, white, or grey.
  2. Jackets, sweaters, cardigans, zip ups that are non Paul Mitchell branded are not acceptable.
  3. Shoes that are foot thongs, flip flops, beach sandals, slippers, slides, and/or "croc" style.
  4. Visors, bandanas, and bonnets.
  5. Headphones, headgear, airpods and/or earphones are not permitted in the classroom or the clinic classroom.
  6. No sun glasses may be worn.
  7. No blankets, snuggle style, and robes are accepted.

Future Professionals who fail to comply with the Future Professional dress code may be coached and may receive an advisory. ** Students that do not comply with the dress code will be sent home home. Students may sign out as well as clock out to go change and return to school once in dress code. 

Professional Image (Dress Code):

All Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance:

  1. Future Professionals may wear black or gray in any combination.
  2. Phase Two Future Professionals may wear black, gray, or white in any combination.
  3. Clothing should be professional and clean.
  4. Shoes should be black, grey and/or white they must be closed toe, professional, practical, and comfortable. All shoes must be closed toe and closed heel.
  5. Hair should be styled prior to arriving at the school.
  6. Any cosmetics should be applied prior to arriving at the school.
  7. The following is a list of acceptable dress:
    1. Jeans or clothing made of jean material if they are black or gray in color. Any rips or tears  must fall below the fingertips, when standing up.
    2. Sleeveless tops. Straps must be 1 inch in width.
    3. Sweatshirts, T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts and/or jackets with the Paul Mitchell  logo or the school logo may be worn.
    4. Stylish hats, scarves, and stylish head wraps
    5. Shorts and/or skirts that fall below the fingertips.
  8. Tights, leggings, and biker shorts must be worn with dress or shirt that is to the finger tips or  longer.
  9. Name tag — as provided by the school. All Future Professionals are required to wear a name tag  while in attendance.

The following is a list of unacceptable dress for all Future Professionals in attendance:

  1. No outerwear, blankets, or slippers.
  2. No crop top can be above the belly button.
  3. Sweatpants or athletic pants.
  4. Shorts and/or skirts that fall above fingertips, when standing up.
  5. .Visors, bandanas or caps.
  6. Headphones, headgear, and/or earphones are not permitted in the classroom or the clinic  classroom.
  7. Sunglasses.
  8. All other brand logos must be smaller than your metal name tag.

Future Professionals who fail to comply with the Future Professional dress code may be coached and may receive an advisory.
